2007 Youth Choir Festival

The 25th SC United Methodist Youth Choir Festival was held April 20 - 22, 2007 at Springmaid Beach in Myrtle Beach, SC.  Rev. David Schwoebel, Minister of Music at Derbyshire Baptist Church in Richmond, VA, was the guest clinician.  Mr. Tim Belk, Organist and Communications Director at First Presbyterian Church in Gastonia and President of Case Brothers Piano and Organ Company in Charlotte, NC, was the accompanist.  Fourteen churches from South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia participated in the festival which was comprised of 116 youth and 51 adults.  St John's United Methodist Church in Anderson, SC brought 18 youth and was the winner of the Berryman Cup traveling trophy for the second consecutive year.  The Berryman Cup trophy is given to the church who brings the most youth to the festival.  Ms. Pat Foil, Director of Music, at Macedonia United Methodist Church in Mullins, SC was recognized as being the only person that has attended all 25 festivals!

The youth sang for the 10:30 a.m. service at Highland Park United Methodist Church in Florence, SC.  They sang Sing Unto God by G. F. Handel/edited by Patrick M. Liebergen; Santo! Santo! Santo! arranged by Donald Moore; He is the Rock by Michael Barrett; Open Thou Mine Eyes by Harlan; A Jubilant Song by Mary Lynn Lightfoot and You are My All in All with Fairest Lord Jesus arranged by Shackley.
