2003 Youth Choir Festival
Dr. Rodney A. Wynkoop, Director of University Choral Music and Director of Chapel Music at Duke University at Durham, NC, was the clinician for the 21st SC United Methodist Youth Choir Festival. Mr. Tim Belk, intentional interim organist at Greensboro's Christ United Methodist Church and President of Case Brothers Piano and Organ Company in Charlotte, NC, was the accompanist. The festival was held April 25 - 27, 2003 at Springmaid Beach in Myrtle Beach, SC. Sixteen churches from South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia participated and there were 160 youth, 2 children and 62 adults in attendance. Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church in Winston-Salem, NC brought 27 youth and was the winner of the Berryman Cup traveling trophy.
The youth sung for the 8:45 a.m. service at Belin Memorial United Methodist Church in Murrells Inlet and for the 11:00 a.m. service at First United Methodist Church in Conway, SC. They sung Ride on, King Jesus by DeCormier; Set Me as a Seal by Clausen; Sicut Cervus by Palestrina; Salmo 150 by Aguiar; O Sifuni Mungu by Maddux and The Lord Bless and Keep You by Rutter.
